The good news is that one-level homes in Portland & Vancouver are plentiful—and so are condominiums, although less so. The trick is where you want to land and what size home or condo you want to manage.

Many steer away from condos because of the HOA fees, but they can be reasonable enough if you consider what they save you in exterior maintenance and other costs. Plus that there are condos that have garden space, some even directly outside your own exterior door.
